NEW YORK, –Kleinfeld Bridal, the country’s leading designer wedding gown retailer, recently presented Stephanie D. London to Kleinfeld brides while she worked in the store lobby, translating wedding dresses into fine works of art. Her paintings are a wonderful and innovative way to preserve and cherish the perfect dress. Stephanie explains her love for turning a magical gown into a piece of art which will last a lifetime; “Sometimes it is the special occasion, sometimes it is the loved ones we shared it with, but certainly it always is about capturing the moment when the hardships of life stand still, and beauty prevails.”
Stephanie’s work is currently on display at Kleinfeld’s flagship store in Manhattan. She continues to create commissions for Kleinfeld brides, as well as brides throughout the United States.
Stephanie London was born in Orlando, Florida, in 1976, and grew up in Wichita, Kansas. She went on to graduate from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors of Fine Arts, Painting, in 2000. While studying art, Stephanie found an interest in using women's dress as her imagery, so she moved to New York City in 2001 where she studied fashion design and the history of women's dress at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Several months after completing her studies, Stephanie was making a routine visit to the roof of her apartment building to read; she slipped and suffered a life threatening 5-story fall from the fire escape of her building. After spending several weeks in the hospital, Stephanie returned to Kansas for her recovery. Her art played a significant role, both physically and emotionally, during her more than 15 months of rehabilitation. With a new desire to preserve the precious, meaningful, and beautiful moments of life, Stephanie began capturing on canvas every woman’s most treasured dress… her wedding gown.
